What to Buy in Paris

When I was planning my trip to Paris I read the best places to buy the things the Parisians buy was at the pharmacy. I would go in there and not knowing what to buy. I went to my favourite place “google” to find out. Of course I went straight to the people who know what to buy…Vogue.  They listed 10 items and I bought 6 of those items that interested me.

I loved all of the items and I have found them here and still continue to buy them.

Concentrated lait crème, Embryolisse

Created by a Parisian dermatologist this face cream is magic. It is a heavier cream, but I use it as a primer for my makeup and it is the best thing I have used. Even though it is a thicker cream, it doesn’t give a greasy look and dries on your skin quickly and beautifully. My makeup doesn’t “fall off my face” and I only need little touch ups. This is one of those products you will find in a lot of makeup artists kits.

Créaline H2O, Bioderma

This micellar water is the perfect makeup removing and skin cleaning product. Using only a cotton pad I use this to wash my “face” off. It is good for all skin types, but I am partial to the moisturising formula in the blue bottle instead of the regular one in the pink bottle. If you have dry skin at all I would recommend the blue bottle. Fun fact…a bottle is sold every three seconds in the world, so you’ll be in good company when you use it.

Thermal Spring Water, Avène

This is my favourite skin mist, it is light and soothing. I use this when I wake up in the morning, a light spritz after I apply my makeup, and any other time I need a pick me up. The small bottle is perfect for taking on the plane with you to combat the dry air.

Huile Prodigieuse, Nuxe

If you want magic in a bottle here it is. The best smelling product I have ever used it can be used anywhere and everywhere on your body/face/hair. This oil is also 98.1% natural, free of any preservatives, silicones and mineral oils. I use it on my face, hair (sparingly so it doesn’t look oily) and hands/arms.

Beauty elixir, Caudalie

Now I am a sucker for anything that is called an elixir, and this one delivers on what you imagine an elixir to be. It is a half-water, half-tonic combination that has remained unchanged for 20 years and contains 99% natural ingredients. The elixir contains rose, peppermint, orange blossom and grape pulp extracts. These calms, tones and brightens skin.

Homéoplasmine

This product is used to ease dry lips, dry skin, and skin irritations. It can be used in all sorts of ways, and you only need a small amount applied to make a difference. I have only used it a small amount but it has been great when I do. The tube will last a long time.

There are so many new products to try out while you are in Paris. These are the gold standard and have stood the test of time. If you try these, let me know how you like them. Are there any French products that I didn’t include here that you have fallen in love with? I would love to know and try them out.
