How to keep your cell phone safe on your trip
Cell phone safety should be a priority for you when you travel. Considering nowadays pretty much every single person travels with their cell phone, since it can be used for so many different things they are a hot commodity. Not only are they a hot commodity for the user but they are a hot commodity for thieves.
This first one is my favourite. I’ve been using the brand Catalyst and love it. This is the most expensive one on the list but it’s also waterproof, dust proof, drop proof and everything else proof. The case fully encloses your phone (downside: you can’t reuse the case when you get a new phone) and comes with a wrist strap and a place to put the lanyard/strap built right into the phone case. This next one is great since you can use it no matter what phone you have and it is much less expensive than the case option. This one has a tab that you put between your phone and your case with the latch for your strap coming out of the case. You do need to make sure that you have a phone case that is not fully open at the bottom. Depending on which one you get you may have to provide or purchase a lanyard separately, but if you already have one from something else, it will work without issue. This one will be good for either a wrist or neck strap too. This one is a neck strap that attaches to your phone with a strong elastic frame that goes around your phone or case. When you put it on your phone you do want to make sure that it’s not covering the camera and then you’re good to go. It does come with the neck strap, but you can also just loop it around your wrist a few times for a wrist strap. All of them are great and will keep your cell phone safe. Choose the best one for you depending on where you are planning to travel and what your budget is. I highly suggest you pick one up before you leave on your travels and actually use it. You will notice once you start using it you will never go back to a phone without a strap because it makes you feel so secure.
I’m going to tell you the number one thing to make your cell phone safe and to help deter those would-be thieves targeting you to steal from. What it is, is to have a lanyard or wrist strap attached to your phone. This doesn’t have to be an expensive item but it could save you a ton of money if your phone gets stolen. The best thing, this simple item will make your cell phone safe in a couple different ways.
First, obviously, is the thieves. When you carry your phone with the strap attached to you, it will be a lot harder for someone to snag it out of your pocket, or from your hand. You want to make sure you carry it around your wrist or your neck when you have it out and easily accessible for yourself.
Second, to keep your cell phone safe, you should also use the strap around your wrist when you’re taking photos over bridges, bodies of water, balconies, off a boat…etc. If you get knocked or you just lose grip of your phone, it is not going to shatter or sink down to the bottom of the ocean, it will just fall off onto your wrist and you will still save your phone.
There are three different straps I want to introduce you to, to keep your cell phone safe. I have used all three and do recommend all of them, it will just depend on how much you want to spend and how you want to carry your phone. I always keep the strap around my wrist when the phone is in my hand or in my pocket to make sure it is safe.

I was worried that the latch was going to be really crappy, but it does have a locking mechanism so you don’t have to worry about it opening my mistake. This one is great for day to day. If you are prone to dropping your phone or heading out on a sandy area trip or one where you’ll be on the water a lot, I would suggest the first one.
