MEET JEN
I have an ever-growing list of places to see in this world but I have managed to get to 81 countries and islands so far. The desire to see new places will never leave me. Not only do I want to see all the new places, but I also want to go back to countries I loved so I can explore new areas.
I started travelling frequently when I got a job as a photographer on a cruise ship when I was just 18. I thought this was going to be my dream job, but alas it was not, but man did I get some amazing life long friends and experiences out of those 4 years. I also had periods of living in England, Ireland, and Thailand.
There was a big hiatus in my life where I did no travelling, trying finding my place. Then 20 years after I stepped foot onto my first cruise ship, I set out to travel solo around the world. I was scared and excited all over again; I had forgotten what that feeling felt like. I travelled for 15 months straight the first time and the second time I was away for 10 months.
I finally found my passion again. I learned, stumbled, made mistakes, had big wins, and researched the heck out of travelling. Travel changed me for the better. I regained my confidence, happiness, compassion, the pure joy of life and the “Hell Ya I Did That” memories that are an indescribable feeling.
This is where Launch Your Travels came to life. I want more people to feel everything I felt while travelling…and not just travelling on a bus tour or a cruise ship (these have their place) but experiencing a place exactly the way you want to see it, feel it, and taste it.
You can usually find me by my laugh…it carries, but I like to think I laugh from my soul. I have gained a couple nicknames while travelling, “google” and “the blonde tornado”, which I wear with pride. I have travelled in all sorts of manners…high end, low end and everything in between.
I have been fortunate to experience travel on planes, trains, boats, cars, car sharing, motorbikes, tuktuks, bicycles, walking, camels, donkeys, horses and reindeers…among others. I have an outgoing personality, with introverted tendencies and a passion for travel. I love trying new things and throwing myself into things I have never done…and they mostly work out, or at the very least I come out of it with a good story to tell, and really that is all I can ask for.
