How to find unique travel destinations around the world
Most people don’t want to necessarily see all the places that everyone else is going to. Yes, you want that trip, but you also want something else. Sprinkle some unique travel destinations into your trip, things that not everyone does. Go a bit more off the beaten path and to different destinations in the world not every single person goes to.
There are many ways to find these unique travel destinations, but today I’m going to tell you about one of my favourite ways to find them. Have you heard of World Heritage Sites, or UNESCO? If you have not, or have heard of it but not exactly sure what it means, in my view they are places that are beautiful, full of culture, history and great places to explore, especially with your camera.
The meaning that UNSECO puts to these are: “World Heritage is the designation for places on Earth that are of outstanding universal value to humanity and as such, have been inscribed on the World Heritage List to be protected for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.” UNESCO stands for: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
With these places in mind I like to go to the website for UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
On this site you will find so many unique travel destinations to add to your trip. It will give you a list of all of the recognized places for the Heritage Sites around the world. There are a couple ways you can use this website. First you can have a country/city that you’ve already decided on traveling to. From here you then look up that country on the website and see what places are on there that you can add into your trip.
The other way is if you’re unsure of where to go. When you haven’t decided on what country to visit yet you can check out this website and look at places you would like to see on this list and build your trip around these unique travel destinations.
The cool thing about this list is these aren’t necessarily just places of interest. They can consist of whole cities, parks, roadways, bodies of water, down to, churches, monuments and buildings among so many other things. This is great because they are easy enough to be able to connect all different and unique travel destinations and things to do. When there are quite a few of them in certain countries, you could hit up a number of different ones and create a whole trip out of just these unique travel destinations within that one country. If your trip is on a continent where you’re able to go to different countries easily, you’ll be able to link up the different sites in the different countries within that and be able to see some really cool things.
